Experimental shapesIMG_7499-edit? Yes! Volume? Yes! Unusual fabrics? Yes please! Color? Hmm.. I’ve always been a huge adherent of black, especially of all-black outfits. Blame it on my country origin or my pull to virtue, the facts remains the same: I almost always wear black and if it’s not a total black outfit for once, then my outfit defenitely contains black. For that reason, a fashion designer who attract me with a colorful collection would achieve something great. And he did… When I saw his creations I fell in love with his colorfull designs, and well, I would lie if I would say I didn’t fell in love with his black designs too.. But enough chit-chatting here, let’s take a look at the colorfull and uncomfortable designs of David Laport. (Because hey fashion isn’t always about wearability and comfort!)

Young, talented and Dutch, that’s what fashion designer David Laport is. But his career didn’t start in fashion immediately. David went to the Theatre School in Rotterdam first, before he started with his education at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague.

Last year David interned at the designs department of Peter Pilotto in London, where he gained a lot of experience. Last summer David graduated from the Academy of Art with his s/s 2013 collection which was based on the idea of the uncomfortable effects of the wind. His collection was full of blowing skirts, blowing collars, unusual shapes and extremely light fabrics. And David impressed his public with his wind-inspired collection; in 2012 he was rewarded by the Mode Fabriek (to the letter: Fashion Factory, a big Dutch fashion event) by selecting him for the best graduate students of 2012.
